You have found my creative outlet! As a teacher in a low-income intermediate school, I have found that I need other outlets that are not work or Netflix-related. I'm sure you understand, too!
One of my hobbies is frequenting thrift stores for items that I can flip. Sometimes, for a small profit (ahem, teacher's salary), others, for my own personal use. I look for clothing, or neat knick-knacks and furniture that can easily be cleaned-up. It's surprising what a good, soapy rag can do! (Except clothing. I always use the washer for clothing.)
My fiancee and I are currently trying to buy a house, and in my excitement, I have been thrifting like crazy. Probably too much; though I have the wonderful excuse that it helps bring in extra cash.
I can't stand paying full price for anything, which is how I afford wearing name brand clothing and shoes, while also saving for a down-payment and decorating my home. [I'd like to thank my Grandma and Mom here, for their super-thrifty powers that I inherited.] At the same time, it helps my conscience a little to know that I repurposed an item, instead of buying something new that would create more waste. I hate seeing usable items thrown away. In that way, we are our own worst enemies.
I look forward to sharing my experiences and documenting our new house journey.
Until next time,
A.
